BEK Communications Plant Department is seeking a driven GIS Technician who will be responsible for producing accurate visual and data representation of BEK Plant by customizing GIS applications, understanding and manipulating digital land-based data entered in ESRI compliant software while adhering to Plant recordation standards.

  • Primary goals include design and prepare graphic representations of GIS data, using GIS software applications Microsoft Suite Applications and AutoCAD.
  • Convert data collected from field operations into GIS databases with proper and accurate spatial representations. Interpret aerial photography and imagery.
  • Analyze GIS data to identify spatial relationships and display the results of analysis, using maps, graphs or tabular data.
  • Enter data in GIS databases using techniques such as coordinate geometry, map digitization, or conversion of other sources of digital data to produce an accurate representation of plant infrastructure.

Our ideal candidate must have the ability to collect, analyze, and summarize GIS data. Ability to georeferenced/geocode data. Knowledge of cartographic design, and exposure to technical recordation in the Telecommunications Industry.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Network architecture, design, and continuing improvement, installation, and software version control/revision on all network equipment.
  • Deploy and configure, Cisco switches, routers, core switches, and other network gear.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain carrier grade networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
  • Installs and tests necessary software and hardware in accordance with Change Management processes.
  • Utilizes monitoring tools to capture and analyze network traffic, maintain uptime, generate usage reports, spot trends, and report any anomalies to the supervisor.
  • Creates and maintains network documentation and diagrams as needed when assets are added or removed.
  • Perform IP forensics as needed.
  • Administer and maintain IT and Central Office monitoring systems.
  • Administer company IT security, Disaster Recovery, and industry compliance policies.
  • Demonstrates great follow up and customer service skills.
  • Must have a good understanding of Network Industry Standards and Network Security Practices.
  • Other Networking and Server Admin related duties as assigned.



What You Need for this Position

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of edge networks and WAN architectures, including protocols such as BGP, EVPN, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, SIP and strategies such as capacity planning, routing policies.
  • Experience configuring CISCO carrier grade networking, monitoring routers and firewalls.
  • 5+ years’ experience preferably in a mixed Microsoft/Linux environment
  • Ability to work well within a team, provide technical guidance/mentor other team members, and network documentation proficiency.
  • Maintain outstanding network design & installation docs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Skills in planning, organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.
  • Cisco certification desired.
  • SANS, or ISC Security Certification are a plus.

Qualifications:

Successful candidate will be proficient with installation and services of West Com nurse call systems and hardware, this includes audio and paging systems. Candidate will also demonstrate ability, to be mechanically inclined and willing to learn.

  • Travel: Must be willing to travel, have satisfactory driving record and clean criminal history record. Position requires weekly travel to job sites.

BEK News is a division of BEK TV (KNDB/KNDM), a North Dakota-owned company broadcasting LIVE...LOCAL sports and news/commentary, with a statewide broadcast footprint and a nationwide Internet (OTT) offering. It’s exciting, emotional and intimate North Dakota content attracts attention and engages viewers of all ages and interests.

BEK TV launched BEK News, an exciting television mix of both national and local news/commentary. BEK News features a number of the national personalities who share their commentary on national and regional topics each day. This position will work in tandem with a team of professional individuals to create high quality news/commentary programming.

  • Gather information, stories and pieces from team members throughout the day.
  • Collaborate with news director to select and prioritize content.
  • Add stories and elements that will make the broadcast more attractive.
  • Select footage and sound bites to include in broadcast to ensure consistency.
  • Communicate with the studio crew and anchors while on-air.
  • Ensure broadcast is within time limits.
  • Produce breaking news reports.
  • Perform research on local, national and international affairs to stay updated with current events.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience with broadcast equipment and production environments, including cameras, control boards, audio equipment and editing systems.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in posting daily video content to the station’s website.
  • Perform other duties as needed and directed by your manager.

Preferred, Skills and/or Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in Broadcasting or equivalent experience in television production
  • Interest in and knowledge of live news/event production and advanced knowledge of both Mac and PC based editing systems (Final Cut Pro, News Edit, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.).
  • Work closely with other station staff to prepare and produce all live and pre-recorded shows. Shows include, but are not limited to daily news/commentary programming, breaking news cut-ins using Tricaster 8000.
  • Manage assigned tasks in a dynamic newsroom environment while demonstrating the ability to multi-task as well as the ability to handle change in a timely manner.
  • Post entry level experience in the role of producer of news/commentary style programming.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, strategically aligning efforts and activities to meet company goals.

We are seeking a Promotions/Commercial Producer experienced in producing on-air station image promotion spots and client commercials on tight deadlines. This position will require you to write, produce, shoot, and edit using the Adobe Creative Cloud. Expertise in writing, producing, shooting, and editing snappy, focused and original ads that successfully promote client’s business.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the BEK TV team to conceive, write, shoot, produce and edit compelling station spots that supports BEK TV sales and digital departments.
  • Collaborate with sales team and their clients to conceive, write, shoot, produce and edit compelling on-air commercials.
  • Creating and managing original production shoots
  • Responsible for coordinating and scheduling timely delivery of creative product.
  • Distribute all finished products to multiple outlets as directed.
  • Maintains accurate files on all projects including scripts, audio/video notes, v/o talent information and music sources.
  • Proficient editing with Adobe Creative Cloud with focus on Adobe Premiere, After Effects.
  • Ability to edit both short (:05 - :60) format projects.
  • Projects may include proof of performance, image campaigns, web and social drivers as well as program tune-in messaging for entertainment and sports.
  • Work closely with Chief Operations Officer to produce promos that provide viewers with a compelling reason to turn to BEK TV over the competition.


Qualifications:

  • Must have a demo reel.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience at a television station, network or agency as an on-air writer/producer/shooter/editor.
  • Must be highly creative, innovative and have strong writing, video, original production and editing skills.
  • Must have attention to detail and accuracy with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Proficiency with non-linear editing equipment, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Proficiency with Photoshop, After Effects and other Creative Cloud apps.
  • Experience running shoots and original production.
  • Great Attitude.
  • College degree/ Film/Production/Journalism or Equivalent.
  • Social Media Fluency.
  • Love and passion for sports and/or news.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record as travel will be required for commercial shoots and production meetings with advertisers of the station.
  • In addition, the producer must be able to lift, set-up and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
